Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Over the last many weeks we have been discovering various aspects of God’s love for us. In fact, just last week, we glimpsed at the spectacular and wondrous love of God that knew us right from our mother’s womb! Today, we will study about the love of God that has been instrumental in preparing a ‘forever home’ for us.
That single word evokes in each of us a multitude of emotions. Loved ones. Acceptance. Memories. Warmth. Safe place. Anticipation. Belonging. Rest… Home.
A major part of my childhood was spent in a rented home. So, after several years when my family relocated to another beautiful house, I couldn’t share in the general mood of excitement! I missed the old place which had been my home. I’d spent umpteen hours making wonderful memories with my loved ones in that house. That was my home! Well, to say the least, it took me a while to get over my sadness.
Many years have passed since then. I now have a family of my own. These days I travel to many different places as part of my ministry. I get to stay in comfortable hotels, eat delicious food and see beautiful sights. But you know what, none of that compares to the feeling of going back home to my loved ones. Because home is where the heart is and my heart is with my family.
Even as I enjoy every moment with my loved ones at home, I do know that there is one more move that I will definitely make.
A final move to my forever home – Heaven!
From time immemorial, God has been preparing a home for us. Jesus testifies that in the above passage. He wants us to be with Him FOREVER in His Father’s place – Heaven!
